I had quite an adventure in Bashas one Sunday morning. I never go shopping on Sunday - but that day I felt the ox was in the mire and I had to run to the store to pick up a birthday surprise for a gal I had in my class at church. I had forgotten to take care of it on Sat. I just couldn't miss giving her a little surprise on her special day.
So - I hurried over to Bashas behind my house and went quickly to get a little treat at the bakery and a flower. I was already dressed for Church and in dress shoes. As I left the back of the store and headed up front - I was hurrying so much that my body got a little ahead of my feet. I tried to catch up, but I could not. I was going to go down. But I still tried to get my feet to catch up with my body.
Well - I went down. I went down hard!!! I actually did a belly flop - landing hard on my stomach. That hurt!! But that wasn't the worse part. As I landed on my stomach I started just sliding down the aisle. My dress was perfect for sliding on the waxed floor. Treat, flower, purse and me just sliding down the aisle. It looked like a great slip and slide journey. When I finally came to a stop, I got myself up, went to pay for my purchases and left as quickly as I could.
I hurt, I was humiliated, embarrassed and I panicked at the idea that the whole adventure had to have been captured on the security video!! I have often wondered what the security people did when they saw that little clip!! The laughter surely would fill the store.
The lesson I learned from this experience: Don't forget to be prepared ahead of time. And don't let your body ever get ahead of your feet!!!
