Where Has the Time Gone?

Tonight marks four years since my Dad passed away here at my home. It hardly seems that much time has passed by. I miss him!!! He didn't like to talk on the phone a bunch - but it was good each week to say hi. And now, I would give anything to here his voice on the other end of the line or sit by him on the front porch and visit.
Dad loved to sit on my front porch.

He sat there in the winter, spring, summer and fall. He loved to sit outside enjoying nature. We have mocking birds here and they brought back memories of where he grew up in Alabama. They had mocking birds there too. He loved hearing them. We spent many hours sitting on the front porch - sometimes visiting and sometimes just sitting together. I would love to walk outside and sit in the chair next to him. Those days are gone now and all I have left are wonderful memories to go to.
I am so grateful for memories. They are really the only thing we have to really hold on to. Everything thing else might go away, but our memories can stay with us.
I wonder at times what he is doing now. What thoughts he might be having, is he sitting on a beautiful front porch enjoying the beauties of heaven? I know he is happy and would not want to come back here - only to see his children and grandchildren, but I'm sure there are times he gets to peek and see us and what we are doing.
So - Dad, when you get that chance to check in on me, I hope you might find me enjoying some of the beauties you enjoyed here, I hope you find me helping others, living as you taught me to live, I hope you find me being kind and loving to all people, I hope you find me becoming better as you said each generation seems to do, I hope you find me living the gospel better and with a stronger testimony of Jesus Christ, I hope you find me working hard and being honest, and most of all I hope you find me laughing and enjoying life as you did - in the good times and in the hard times.

Yep - I have lots of memories of grandpa sitting out front in those green chairs. You know - he was the first person who told me to drive the car we were in after I got my permit. I made a left turn out of the Basha's parking lot in busy traffic. And somehow we made it.
